Three Reasons To Buy Calvin Klein's Former New York Penthouse

Fashion designer Calvin Klein’s former penthouse in New York City has recently been put up for sale, at the listed price of $35 million. This penthouse is situated on the 19th and 20th floors of one of the grandest buildings in the Central Park West Historic District of NYC, named the 55 Central Park West. It has hardly been lived in, and has two sunny terraces, which are great for a mid-morning brunch.

  • The New York penthouse is spread over a huge area of 5,000 square feet, and has 12 majestic rooms.
  • It is centrally located in one of the classiest areas of Manhattan, and boasts of awesome views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline.
  • The high rise residence has been featured in famous Hollywood movies like Superman and Ghostbusters.

Calvin Klein’s old duplex penthouse in New York has undergone extensive architectural and renovation work to convert it into a single unit. This work is believed to have cost a surprising five million dollars.

Fashion designer Calvin Klein had lived in this penthouse in the nineties, during which he had had the interior walls removed, and installed a hot tub on the sun-drenched roof area. Currently, this New York apartment is owned by Steve Gottlieb, an ex-record executive, who bought the penthouse from Klein for the price of $8.6 million dollars. While Gottlieb lives in the same building in an 18th floor flat, he uses the huge duplex penthouse on the 19th and 20th floors as an area for private parties.

Features of the Manhattan Penthouse

As Steve Gottlieb does not really use this Manhattan duplex penthouse, it was put up for sale at a price of 35 million dollars, making it one of the most expensive homes to be listed in the New York area.

Some features of Calvin Klein’s old New York penthouse are:

  • A 37-foot gallery with huge windows, and 300 linear feet fronting Central Park.
  • A space of four bedrooms, four and a half bathrooms, a double-height tower room, and a terrace-facing garden room called the ‘pavilion’.
  • The proposed floor plan has the living room with fireplace, the formal dining room and the media room facing the Central Park side, while the kitchen-cum-dining area, butler’s room and laundry room face the southern side.

The master-suite of Calvin Klein’s former penthouse in New York City faces the East/North side terraces. This room also overlooks Central Park, and has a huge master bath, a dressing room, majestic French doors and fireplaces.

While this New York duplex penthouse apartment is really expensive, it is not as costly as Steven Klar’s $100 million penthouse and Sherry Netherland’s $95 million co-op apartment.
